Dear Friends,

We hope that you enjoyed your summer and that you are doing well. It is that time of year when we think of children returning to school, tuition payments and the ever favorite Lisa Sechrist Tournament.

This year we are still sending young women off to school and paying tuition but we have decided to forego the annual tournament. Typically we grant one full scholarship per year and several other partial awards. We hope to continue this practice and ask for your help to enable us to continue this worthy cause.

We have polled our trade partners and all have agreed that everyone is busily attempting to make our business plans and making the necessary adjustments to cope with today’s economic environment. Our trade partners further agreed that they would continue their support efforts for the foundation through contributions in lieu of the tournament participation. We invite you to join them.

Since our inception we have awarded almost $325,000 in full or partial scholarships assisting over 80 young women in their pursuit of an education. We have seen women become accountants, systems analysts, social workers, nurses, translators, journalists and a degree in astrophysics. Our current seniors will obtain degrees in marine biology, chemistry, marketing, art and music. Almost all of our winners have attended school on the East Coast with most of them attending Virginia schools.

We ask that send your contribution in the form of a check made payable to the Lisa Sechrist Memorial Foundation.
