Lisa Sechrist Memorial Foundation > Memorial Foundation

We honor the memory
of a young co-worker.

The Lisa Sechrist Memorial Foundation was established in 1996 to honor the memory of an employee who tragically lost her life to domestic violence. The goals of the foundation are to help build self esteem and professional skills from higher education, and to provide a safe, affordable sanctuary in which to live.

<< The Lisa Sechrist Memorial Foundation is your opportunity to support a truly worthy cause.

HISTORY

The Lisa Sechrist Memorial Foundation was founded in 1996 in memory of a former employee and victim of domestic violence. At the age of 32, Lisa lost her life when this violence escalated beyond her control. Lisa's family believed that there were contributing factors to Lisa's inability to remove herself from this situation. These factors centered around the fact that Lisa did not have a level of education to provide her with greater economic and employment opportunities. This, combined with the lack of support and a safe place to live rendered her insecure and helpless, in her mind, to leave the relationship. The foundation works to improve the futures of young women from unfortunate circumstances through scholarships to provide higher education and support of new and existing shelters for victims of domestic violence. Contributions from our generous sponsors and fund raising events provide us the revenue to support these programs. Annually the foundation awards scholarships to at least one full time student and several part time students if funds allow.
